UPDATE: Hersey Grave Markers Found

Posted: Updated:

Now an update on a story we first brought you yesterday.

The Veteran war markers stolen from the Hersey Village Cemetary in Osceola county have been found and returned.

Earlier this week, when exchanging worn flags at the grave sites, the grounds crew noticed more than 60 of these brass flag holders missing.

After we covered the story yesterday, the Clare County Sheriff's Office realized they had the missing markers.

They arrested a man for stealing copper a couple weeks ago and found the markers among the metal.

The missing markers were returned this afternoon.

Police are looking for whoever stole nearly 40 bronze grave markers in the Hersey Cemetery in Osceola county, just days before Memorial Day.

Village workers noticed the markers missing earlier this week when they went to replace flags before Memorial Day at the grave sites.

If you have any information who may have stolen the markers, please call the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jacob Johnson spoke to a man who lost his father's marker and have more details.
