Four Schools Lock Down Amid Gunman Reports

Posted: Updated:

Shortly after 7 AM today, police were alerted to reports of a man walking across M-75 in Charlevoix County with a handgun and blood on his shirt.

The location was within a close proximity of four schools, prompting them to lock down until given the go ahead by police.

Boyne City Schools, Boyne Valley Education Center and Concord Academy Boyne each locked students into their schools until about 1 PM.

Boyne Falls rerouted their students on the way to school and sent them home early since they were the closest school to the sighting.

All these procedures have become increasingly rehearsed and planned making the real thing, like today, go smoothly.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jeff Blevins spoke to two schools and have more details.
