Woman Caught Breaking and Entering after Locking Herself in Her Own Car

Posted: Updated:

St. Ignace police say they caught a Curtis woman breaking and entering because she accidentally locked herself in her own car.

The woman had broken into Chamberlin's Inn, located in Portage Township in Mackinac county.

She stole various items like silverware and dishes, but dropped her keys during the theft.

Once she got into her vehicle, she was locked in because the inside door latches were broken and the only way to get out was to roll down the window and use the outside door handle.

Police responded to the complaint and found the 42 year old woman locked in her car at the scene and arrested her.
