Hay Shortage Still Impacting Many

Posted: Updated:

A nationwide hay shortage may be partly to blame for a number of these cases of horses being malnourished.

While hay crops will soon be growing, it may not be soon enough.

At hay farms like Brooks Farm in Harrison, barns that are typically filled with hay sit empty.

They say it's hard to turn away customers that they know need the hay to feed their animals.

Those with horses, like the Perfect Horse Ranch in LeRoy say they planned ahead, so their horses wouldn't go hungry.

Both say as long as the recent rainfall continue, the hay crop this summer will be good.
