Feedback at 5:00: Prescription Spending

Posted: Updated:

For the first time in a decade, people are spending less on prescription drugs.

A new report shows cash strapped Americans continued to cut back on health care services.

The I.M.S. institute says people are taking advantage of new, less expensive generic drugs for chronic conditions like high cholesterol.

A mild cold and flu season also helped reduce spending on prescriptions.

But, another reason for the decline was that consumers continued to cut back on or delay needed doctor visits, medicines and other treatments, because they couldn't afford them.

In this Feedback at 5:00, do you budget for prescription drugs? If so, how much on average do you have to spend a month?
