Fire Danger Across Northern Michigan

Posted: Updated:

Warm weather and dry conditions are creating the perfect conditions for wildfires.

According to the Huron-Manistee National Forest, since the start of the year there have been more than 50 wildfires across northern Michigan.

On Friday, the fire danger ranged from moderate to high.

Experts want everyone to be smart when setting a fire. They also want people to make sure they have a water source nearby as well as a shovel or rake.

In the event a fire gets out of hand, the Department of Natural Resources wants everyone to call 911.

Both the DNR and Huron-Manistee National Forest want people to make sure burn permits are available in their area before they burn anything.
