A fire in a Northern Michigan apartment complex leaves two families displaced temporarily.
The fire department is still investigating the cause of a fire that happened early this morning.
It happened at Sugar Plum Apartments in Garfield Township in Grand Traverse County - there were no injuries.
A neighbor called the department after smelling smoke around 4 o'clock this morning.
The fire originated in the attic, and spread to the apartment next door - causing moderate damage to both apartments.
The assistant fire chief tells us they had it under control in a half an hour, but there were challenges.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Department assisted in getting the other neighboring residents out of the building, and the Red Cross helped place the two families in a hotel, while crews investigate and make repairs.
