Posted: Updated:

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) -- The Detroit Lions open the 2013 season on Sept. 8 against the Minnesota Vikings, and their schedule also includes a home Monday night game against Super Bowl champion Baltimore.

The Lions made the playoffs two seasons ago but stumbled to a 4-12 record last year.

Detroit's open date occurs at the halfway point of the season, after the Lions have played eight games.
