More than one in four children Wexford, Missaukee, and northern Osceola county live in poverty, and food assistance programs don't cover certain things like diapers.
That has one group in northern Michigan looking to make a difference.
The Great Start Parent Coalition is holding their second annual diaper drive to help families in need.
Their goal is to collect diapers and other baby items for families who can't afford them.
They say they just want every child in the area to be happy, healthy and ready to learn by the time they start school.
The drive kicks off tomorrow at the Mackinaw Trail Middle School in Cadillac from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
It will run all the way until May 11th.
