One Man in Jail After Trying to Break Into a Traverse City Party Store

Posted: Updated:

A Traverse City party store employee got the shock of his life when police say he came face to face with someone trying to break-in.

The employee at Tilleys Party Store on Randolph Street was in the office when he heard someone at the front door around 2:30 this morning.

He saw a white man removing a screen from the front door and was prying on the glass door.

When the suspect saw the employee he ran away.

Officers followed his tracks in the snow to a house where he took a bike.

Police followed the bike tracks to the intersection of Carter Road and the Tart Trail Crossing where they found the suspect.

He is now in the Grand Traverse County jail.
