Local Businesses Effected By Power Outage and Road Closure

Part of Traverse City was without power for much of the day, after a three car accident broke some utility poles.

The crash happened around 9 this morning, and took down power lines on US 31, between Three and Four Mile Roads.

The road partially re-opened this afternoon, but may cause traffic issues until 8 tonight.

No one was injured in the accident, but it did effect a lot of local businesses.

9&10's Vanessa Fayz and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson tell us how businesses in the area coped without power.


Just after 1:00 this afternoon, crews were able to restore the power that was lost after an accident in Traverse City.

The accident closed down part of US-31 between 3 Mile and 4 Mile roads.

We just got word that US-31 between 3 Mile and 4 Mile roads are expected to be open between 3:00 and 4:00 this afternoon.

Power companies are working on restoring power at this time.


US-31 between 3 Mile Road and 4 Mile Road in Traverse City is closed.

The closure is a result of an bad accident.

Details are limited, but we do know one car is wrapped up in power lines.

We have just learned the surrounding area is out of power.
