Community and Police Looking for Answers Relating to Double Murder Suicide

One day after a man killed his wife and son at their Newaygo County home, neighbors struggle to comprehend what happened.

Police believe Charles Mark Hoover Sr. shot his family before turning the gun on himself.

Police responded to the double shooting at a home on 17 Mile in Lilley Township just before 2:00 Wednesday afternoon.

They found Marsha and Charles Hoover Jr. dead of apparent gunshot wounds outside the home.

Police conducted a 9 hour manhunt around the area and then entered the house with the help of a police robot and found Charles Mark Hoover Sr. dead.

There are so many questions in Bitely about why Charles Mark Hoover Sr. shot and killed his wife and one of his son's. Neighbors say the family kept to themselves most of the time.

The Hoover's had several buildings on their property and one building was used for religious gatherings where they hosted Bible Study on Saturday nights.

Newaygo County Sheriff's Department is looking into a possible motive, but are not releasing any details yet.
