MI Senators Fight to Protect Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Posted: Updated:

It's been called one of the most beautiful places in America, and now environmental experts are asking for more help to protect the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Environment Michigan says the dunes bring in millions of visitors every year, and that it needs more guaranteed federal money to protect the area.

Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin are proposing a Land and Water Conservation Fund to make sure that happens.

Environment Michigan says visitors to the lakeshore bring in more than 132 million dollars to the local economy, and helps support more than 2,200 jobs in the region.
