An Alpena Break-in and Assault Leaves One Man Hospitalized

Posted: Updated:

One man is in the hospital after police say he was almost beaten to death by three men.

Alpena Police responded to a car accident on Misery Bay Road around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, and when they showed up two men took off running.

They caught one of them, but the other got away.

About 20 minutes later an ambulance and police were sent to a home a few miles from the accident where police confirmed that the men from the car had robbed a home, and beat the homeowner before tying him up.

Police think a total of three men from Alpena planned to steal marijuana and prescription drugs.

Officers have tracked down all three.

All three are charged with home invasion, armed robbery, and assault with intent to murder.

The investigation continues, and police say they expect more arrests.
