UPDATE: Midland County Police Catch Suspect in Home Invasion and Attempted Abduction

Posted: Updated:

Deputies in Midland County say a fugitive is in jail thanks to an observant county transit employee.

Woodie Lewis is accused of breaking into his ex-fiance's house last night, tying her up with duct tape, and refusing to let her leave.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office says she escaped her home in Midland County's Lee Township around midnight.

Officers arrested Woodie Lewis around noon today at a Dollar General nearby. A County Connections driver dropped Lewis off at the store and called police after seeing his photo on the news. The sheriff says it is very fortunate the suspect was arrested so quickly and that the victim was able to escape.

Deputies say Lewis has a criminal history but not for violent crime.
