A close call for officers in Grand Traverse county responding to a report of shots fired.

Deputies became the target of gunfire in Grawn on Sunday afternoon.

When police arrived at a home on Sunburst Street in Grawn, one person left the house and began pacing in the middle of the road.

As police began to approach the person in the road, Richard Radcliffe opened the front door of the house and fired multiple shots at the officers.

One of the deputies returned fire, Radcliffe surrendered to police, and was arrested moments later.

Several bullets struck a house across the street. No one was injured, but the house had several bullet holes and the refrigerator had to be replaced.

Radcliffe admitted to having the rifle, and firing it inside the home.

No one was hit by any of the fired shots.

Radcliffe faces multiple felony charges including assault with the intent to murder.
