Michigan Sees Decline in Honey Production

Posted: Updated:

Michigan dropped two spots in their production of honey from 2011 to 2012.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says Michigan moved from 7th to 9th in production - dropping 8.5% last year.

Michigan's 76,000 colonies produced 57 pounds, on average, in 2012 - compared to 64 pounds in 2011.

Beekeepers are now taking part in a survey through April 15th to get a clearer picture of what's happening with the state's bee population.
