Seminar Teaches Children Self-Defense

Every parent wants to keep their child safe, and now one local martial arts studio is helping them do that.

Ticconi's ATA Martial Arts in Manistee put on an event tonight to teach children self-defense and safety techniques.

It's very rare, but kidnapping and attacks can happen to children, and by hosting these seminars, this group hopes they can help prevent them.

Children were taught the difference between a safe stranger and dangerous stranger, as well how to defend themselves physically.

The kids and instructors role played different scenarios as well.

Parents say it's important kids should know how to fight back against a stranger.

Attendees also received child ID kits, provided by Amber Alert.

Another child self-defense seminar will be held tomorrow morning at Ticconi's ATA Martial Arts in Cadillac.
