TC Film Festival Hopes to Add a Second Screen

Posted: Updated:

The organizers of the Traverse City Film Festival hope to add a second screen.

Yesterday, the film festival asked the city for a ten year contract to operate the Con Foster Museum in Clinch Park and turn it into a theater.

They want to run a second screen out of it to accompany the State Theater.

Film festival founder, Michael Moore, says they've been looking for years to add a second screen and he believes the need is there.

The theater would be modeled on the old-style movie theaters of the early 20's.

"Bijou on the Bay" is what the theater would be named.

Bijou means small gem.

The entire cost of the project is estimated at $800,000, and the film festival would use donations to pay for it.

The final decision is still up to the city.
