Three people are in jail after being caught for trying to smuggle drugs into a state correctional facility.

According to Michigan State Police, a tip gave prison officials and officers the upper hand on the smuggling attempt at Pugsley Correctional Facility. Following the tip, the Traverse Narcotics Team set up cameras around the facility to monitor inmates' activity.

Officers say on Tuesday night, a man was found trying to leave marijuana and tobacco products on the prison grounds. Two women were also found waiting in a vehicle nearby with more drugs.

All three suspects were arrested and are currently lodged at the Grand Traverse County Jail.

Their names are being withheld until after their arraignments.

One or more inmates could also face charges for their connection to the case.
