Subaru is recalling thousands of Legacy and Outback all wheel drive vehicles.
The automaker says the brake lines can rust and leak fluid.
Cars affected by the recall are the 2005 through 2009 model years sold in the United States where salt is used to clear roads in the winter.
Documents filed with the U.S. government say that the salt can cause the brake lines to rust and leak, which can lead to longer stopping distances and increasing the risk of an accident.
Subaru is still trying to determine how many vehicles are affected by the recall.
The company will check the cars for leaks and replace the brake lines if necessary.
