Montcalm deputies responded to a report of a man falling through the ice on a private pond.

The 65 year old Stanton man had gone out onto the ice to get his dog and fell through, into chest deep water.

Deputies found Harry Eugene Baker unable to get out of the water.

Rescue crews had to use throw bags and a rope to pull him to safety.

Baker was taken to the hospital and treated for hypothermia.
