UPDATE: Petoskey Man Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting a Teenage Girl

An Emmet County man is going to prison for sexually assaulting a teen girl.

 The Petoskey man was arrested earlier this year, accused of inappropriately touching the teen while she was visiting him with family.

Melvin Kiogima was sentenced to seven and a half to 15 years in prison for second and third degree criminal sexual conduct.

Records show Kiogima apologized to the girl the next morning and begged her not to tell her mother.

They also show investigators found Kiogima's DNA on the teen's clothes.

Troopers arrested a Petoskey man accused of sexually assaulting an underage teenage girl.

According to court records, Melvin Kiogima II inappropriately touched the teen while she was visiting him with family.

He's accused of touching her while she slept.

Records show Kiogima apologized to the girl the next morning and begged her not to tell her mother.

The court documents also show investigators found Kiogima's DNA on the teen's clothes.
