Child Sex Case Leads to Meth Lab Discovery

Posted: Updated:

Police arrested Joshua Letts earlier this week after police learned of the inappropriate relationship with a 13 year-old girl near the town of Lake.

Clare County Sheriff John Wilson says Letts has had a relationship with the girl since last fall.

Letts is a registered sex offender and just recently got off parole for committing nearly the same crime in 2007.

After questioning Letts, detectives were lead to a home in Osceola County in search of evidence for their case.

The investigation at the home on 5 Mile Rd. in Evart started around 7:30 last night.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Department was assisting Clare County with a search warrant related to another case.

A lieutenant with the Traverse Narcotics Team says deputies found a controlled substance and possible meth lab during the initial search.

The Traverse Narcotics Team found an active one-pot meth lab, along with chemicals and other items.

Two people were arrested and could be charged later today, one of which were arrested for violating their probation.

The Traverse Narcotics Team covers eight Northern Michigan counties.

They ask for the public's help with any drug tips which can be anonymous.
