Posted: Updated:

We have an update on a Central Michigan University professor found in possession of child pornography.

Last November, authorities found 106,000 images and 1,600 videos of child porn on William Merrill's CMU work computer.

Today, Merrill returns to federal court.

Merrill previously pleaded guilty to receiving the porn.

He faces a minimum of 5 years in prison, but federal prosecutors are recommending that he gets more.

A former Central Michigan University professor has admitted to receiving child porn.

William Merrill plead guilty to having a child porn video on his CMU computer hard drive, as well as possessing more than 65,000 other images.

The case started after staff at the Mount Pleasant school found videos last fall while they were investigating why 170 gigabytes were transferred from a campus computer.

Merrill resigned from the university back in November and he faces at least 5 years in prison.
