Mt. Pleasant School District Beefing Up Security

Posted: Updated:

Mt. Pleasant Public School District is increasing security at several schools.

According to District Superintendent Michael Pung, new cameras and buzzers are being installed at the main entrances of five elementary schools.

The schools will also be on lockdown most of the day, but open in the morning when school starts and at the end of the day.

The measures are an attempt to keep everyone safe and come after the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut late last year.

Pung says all schools in the district will have similar systems in about 30 days.
