CMU draws 11-seed in NCAA Tourney, will play Oklahoma on Saturday in Columbus

The Central Michigan women's basketball team received the No. 11 seed and will face No. 6 seed Oklahoma in Columbus, Ohio in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Chippewas (21-11) received the Mid-American Conference's automatic bid after defeating Akron in the championship game of the FirstEnergy Mid-American Conference Tournament last Saturday afternoon. Saturday's first-round game will be played at 11:10 a.m. inside St. John Arena.

The winner of the matchup between the Maroon and Gold and the Sooners (22-10) will play the winner of the No. 3 UCLA/No. 14 Stetson matchup in the second round on Monday at 7 p.m.

The Sooners finished 11-7 in the Big 12 during the regular season and were knocked out of the Big 12 Tournament by No. 23 Iowa State in the semifinalsCMU is making its third appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since consecutive appearances in 1983 and 1984. The postseason appearance is the Chippewas' third straight as they played in the WNIT each of the last two seasons.

As the No. 4 seed at the MAC Tournament, the Chippewas won three-straight games to claim the MAC title, including a 66-61 victory over No. 1 seed Toledo in the semifinals.Ticket information and travel packages for fans and students are currently being assembled by the Central Michigan Athletics department and will be released as soon as they are finalized.
