EAST LANSING -

St. Ignace coach Dorene Ingalls won her 4th State Title with the Saints Saturday and knocked off a team that was looking to make history.  Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes had a chance to win a fourth consecutive high school Girls Basketball State Title in Class D but the Saints, who dropped down from Class C this year beat them in the Final 59-44.

Emily Hinsman led the Saints with 20 points, Sarah Cullip added 16, and Thursday's leading scorer Kelley Wright chipped in 10 points.

Lexie Robak led the Lakers and all scorers with 25 points including six three-pointers.

After trailing for most of the First Quarter, Sarah Cullip scored a pair of field goals in the final 30 seconds to cap a 10-3 run and give the Saints a 15-12 lead.

Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes used a strong Second Quarter to lead the Class D Girls Basketball State Final 28-23 at Halftime.

Saints shot 30 percent from the field in the First Half but scored 15 points off turnovers.

St. Ignace shot a much better 56 percent from the field in the Second Half.  Emily Hinsman got a steal and a layup midway through the Third Quarter to help St. Ignace come back to take a 34-33 lead. However the teams end the Third Quarter tied at 38.

The Saints scored the first nine points of the Fourth Quarter.  Emily Hinsman's bucket from the paint gave them a 47-38 edge with 4:20 left in the game and they never looked back.

It is the Saints second girls basketball State Title in the last three seasons.

Jim Lehocky is in St. Ignace and will have reaction from the fans on 9&10 News at 11.

Greg Miller made the trip to East Lansing, so we'll also have highlights and reaction from the Saints tonight at 11.
