Police arrest five men they say played a role in a stretch of break-ins across west and central Michigan.

The theft arrests are connected to break-ins in Isabella, Mecosta, and Osceola Counties and in particular the Evart area.

Lynnwood Whitehead, Kenneth Holmes, John Bedford, and Brian and Robert McCarthy were each arrested for the break-ins.

Police say the group stole about $60,000 worth of equipment from Barnett's Auto Repair near Evart.

Police arrested two of the men for an unrelated crime and eventually tracked down all five.

Police also retrieved two long guns from the Hersey River connected to the case.

All five bonded out after their arraignments.

Five suspects are now behind bars in connection to a burglary and several other thefts in the northern Michigan area.

The investigation began after a burglary at an auto repair shop in Evart.

Several stolen trailers were recovered after the suspects were identified.

The group has been linked to crimes in Isabella, Osceola, and Mecosta Counties among others.

They will be arraigned Friday.
