Local Reaction To Pope Conclave

Posted: Updated:

The conclave is underway in Vatican City and local Catholics are patiently waiting for the selection of the next pope.

Monsignor and Pastor Francis Murphy of St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac says he is excited about the conclave because this is a unique situation. This is the first time in 600 years that a pope has resigned.

St. Ann School in Cadillac is also teaching students in the K-7 school about the process.

Monsignor Murphy does not believe an American has the patience for the job.

According to Monsignor Murphy, he just wants the right person to be selected.

Former Pope Benedict the 16th was selected in one day, but most Catholics are hoping to have someone selected by the Easter holiday.
