Sequester Could Impact Section 8 Housing Program, Many Concerned

Posted: Updated:

The government sequester continues to affect federal agencies all across the country -- and it's hitting close to home in Northern Michigan.

Those who participate in the Section 8 housing program could lose their benefits.

It has many of them scared, and unsure of their future.

The cuts are part of the 85 billion dollars in national spending cuts.

The threat of across-the-board cuts was an attempt to force lawmakers to find a compromise during budget negotiations ... But that still hasn't happened, and there's still no sign of a compromise.

The GOP wants more spending cuts and no tax increases - the President wants to close tax loopholes and cut spending.

9&10's Vanessa Fayz spoke with the Traverse City Housing Commission, and some participants of the Section 8 housing program.
