Petoskey Department of Public Safety Warns Residents of Potential Phone Scam

Posted: Updated:

The Petoskey Department of Public Safety is warning residents to watch out for a potential phone scam.

They say one person has been contacted twice by phone and asked by a recording to dial 1, and then enter their credit card number.

The resident hung up both times they were contacted.

Officials tried to call the number back, but only got a recording that said nobody was available to take the call.

The Petoskey Department of Public Safety wants to remind everyone not to give out personal or financial information over the phone, and anyone who receives similar phone calls should hang up and call their local police department.
