Four Hospitalized in Crash between Car and Amish Buggy

Posted: Updated:

A collision between a car and an Amish Buggy Sunday morning sent a woman and three children to the hospital.  In all, two adults and eight children were aboard the buggy.

The accident, in Deerfield Township, happened on Five Mile road near 155th Avenue.

Witnesses told deputies that the horse pulling the buggy was heading east, when it suddenly reared up and ran into the westbound lane, where a car driven by a Lakeview man was unable to avoid a collision with the horse and buggy.

He and his passenger were unhurt, but in the buggy, a woman, and three children, aged two months, nine and ten years old were taken by ambulance to Mecosta County Medical Center for treatment.   The other six aboard were not seriously hurt.
