United Rescue Services Closes After 40 Years of Service

Posted: Updated:

It's been a three year war over Clare County between United Rescue and Mobile Medical Response.

Today, United closed it's ambulance bay for the last time.

The EMS issues began when the hometown United Rescue began losing money and patients to MMR throughout Clare County.

Bad decisions and poor management left United Rescue in massive debt.

Employees say over the past year they have been chipping away at the debt while the townships responsible for the service are afraid they will be left with the devastating bill.

Friday evening the United Services Authority Board came together and voted to close the garage almost immediately.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jeff Blevins spoke to employees that just lost their jobs and have more details.
