Hudson makes wrestling history in win over Hesperia

Posted: Updated:

The Hesperia wrestling program is no stranger to the Division 4 State Team Finals.  Unfortunately, they are in the same division as one of the best programs in MHSAA wrestling history.

Hudson beat Hesperia in Saturday's final 32-24.  The Tigers tied Davidson for most consecutive team titles with 5.  Davidson made its run from 2002-06.

The Tigers jumped out to a 9-0 lead in Saturday's match.  However, Hesperia responded with a 21-3 run thanks to victories from Elijah Olsen, Mark Workman, Cash Bolles, Lee Siersma and Scott Rosencrans.  That gave the Panthers a 21-12 edge.

Unfortunately, the Panthers would not get another victory until it was too late.  Hudson took the next five matches and had already wrapped up their fifth straight title when Zach Yates secured a victory at the 125 pound weight class for Hesperia.

The Panthers finished the season 35-3 and earned their second runner-up trophy in three years.

A potentially stinky situation for some people in Clare County, they say their garbage hasn't been picked up in weeks. It's all due to state enforced frost laws. The county says one company's trucks are just too heavy to travel on the black-top roads and would probably damage them.
