Thanks to new federal funds, a popular trail at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is expanding.
The State Transportation Department received $100,000 to add nearly five miles to the parks Heritage Trail.
The funding comes out of $12.5 million going to 29 projects in 20 states to improve access to national parks, forests and wildlife refuges.
Heritage Trail connects Glen Arbor North to the Port Oneida Rural Historic District.
When completed, the trail will be just over 14 miles long.
