UPDATE: Clare County House Fire Caused by Small Meth Explosion

Clare County house fire was caused by a small meth explosion.

Clare Fire Department responded to a house fire around 11:00 Friday night, while they were putting out the fire they noticed chemicals in the house that are commonly used to make meth.

Clare Police confirmed that there was meth components inside.

Police say a 32-year-old Clare man was mixing chemicals to make meth when a small explosion happened setting the couch on fire.

The female homeowner was slightly injured, the male was severely burned and taken to the trauma unit at Hurley Hospital.

The State Police Decontamination unit was called to clean up the scene.
