UPDATE: DeShawn Stanton Pleads No Contest

Posted: Updated:

An update tonight on a Benzie County man accused of killing his wife.

DeShawn Stanton has pleaded no contest.

Deputies arrested Stanton last May for the murder of his wife, Stephanie, at a home on Cinder Road in Homestead Township.

An autopsy shows she died from a single gunshot wound to the neck.

Investigators recovered the gun at the scene.

Court records show Stanton had been in jail for attacks on his wife before.

Stanton entered the no contest plea earlier this week, that means he doesn't admit guilt but accepts the punishment.

The judge Just accepted the plea.
