An asteroid will make its closest pass by Earth around 2:24 this afternoon.

It is estimated to come about 17,200 miles above Earth's surface, and is around 150 feet across weighing an estimated 130,000 metric tons.

Experts say it won't hit the planet, but it's fly-by is the closest ever predicted for an object this large, according to NASA.
