Plow Crews Battle Icy Roads

Posted: Updated:

Keeping traffic moving is an ongoing battle for road crews across northern Michigan.

Sixteen plow truck drivers were salting the roads in Wexford County on Monday. The road commission says many side roads are still slick, especially gravel roads.

They are asking everyone to be very careful overnight. Crews will monitor conditions overnight and keep plows running as needed on main roads. The concern is cold temperatures could ice up roads once again.

A layer of fresh snow actually improved conditions by giving drivers a little more traction on the ice.
