Gov. Snyder to Propose 2% Funding Increase for Schools

Posted: Updated:

Governor Snyder will unveil his proposed budget to lawmakers in Lansing today.

Among his proposals, he is expected to recommend a 2 percent increase in state funding for public schools, universities and community colleges.

He also wants universities to limit tuition hikes to 4 percent, or face losing part of their state aid.

Yesterday, Snyder voiced his support for expanding Medicaid eligibility to hundreds of thousands in the state without insurance. It's part of the new Health Car law.

Northern Michigan's News Leader will have a crew live in Grand Rapids tonight for a town hall discussion with Gov. Snyder after he presents his budget proposal.
