Reed City Plans to Expand Waste Water Treatment Plant

Posted: Updated:

Reed City's expanding their waste water treatment plant, and it's customers are saving because of it.

The 2.9 million dollar project is being funded with 2.8 million dollars in grants.

That means the almost 900 customers will only have to absorb a little over $70,000 compared to 5 million dollars.

Officials say it is very unusual, and lucky to receive grants that cover more than 97% of the cost.

While Reed City only has around 2,400 residents, the treatment plant is large enough to service up to 45,000 people.
