Governor Snyder Supports Expanding Medicaid Eligibility

Posted: Updated:

An announcement made by Governor Snyder this afternoon could put hundreds of thousands of Michigan residents without insurance at ease.

Snyder announced that he supports the expansion of Medicaid eligibility to include many people who aren't covered by Obama's health care overhaul.

The federal health care law gives states the option to accept or decline the expansion, but there are benefits for states who chose to expand.

For the states that accept, the federal government says they will pay for the entire Medicaid expansion for three years, and for 90% of the cost over the long haul.
