Kids Receive Lifesaving Award for Helping Abducted CMU Student

Posted: Updated:

Two kids were honored tonight after saving the life of an abducted CMU student in January.

James and Acelin Persyn were at home in Shepherd when the CMU student came to their door asking for help.

The siblings let her in and called 911, while the abductor threatened to kill them.

The Isabella County Sheriff's Department wanted to recognize them for their bravery and quick-thinking that night.

James and Acelin say they are excited about the awards, and would help save someone's life again without question.

9 & 10's Meredith Barack and photojournalist Tony Zyber were there as they received the award.
