Snow Days Piling Up for Northern Michigan School Districts

Posted: Updated:

The slick conditions forced many districts to cancel school today.

The state allows districts to miss six days before making them up later.

Many districts are over the limit already and they are only half way through the school year.

Morley-Stanwood Schools had their 7th day off today.

Superintendent Roger Cole says he wants to make the decision by six every morning and it isn't always about snowfall.

Today, the back roads of his 180 square mile district were iced over and washed away in some areas.

He knows his students will have at least one more day tacked on and just one extra day may be worst case scenario.

9&10's Eric Lloyd and photojournalist Jeremy Erickson visited some closed schools today and have more details.
