Weather Delays Meals on Wheels in Wexford and Missaukee Counties

Posted: Updated:

Slick roads are making things very difficult for Meals on Wheels programs.

The program that serves Wexford and Missaukee Counties has not been able to deliver meals for three days.

Bad roads have canceled school and the program will not deliver when conditions are not safe. Meals on Wheels is calling people in the affected counties to make sure they have everything they need.

Clients have an emergency food supply that will last five days. The program is hopeful the weather will cooperate and they will get back on the roads very soon.

The program evaluates its emergency preparedness plan every year. Meals on Wheels is looking for ways to better handle long periods of bad weather.

Kyle Mitchell and Photojournalist Jacob Johnson have more on what the delays mean for clients.
