Plow Crews Keep Busy Despite Warm Weather

Posted: Updated:

Even with record high temperatures in Traverse City, there was no shortage of work for road crews.

Crews were busy cleaning up slush as the rain and warm weather moved in.

The Grand Traverse County Road Commission took advantage of the weather by pushing snow banks back and improving visibility for drivers. Workers cleared drains to prevent rain and melted snow from building up. They also put sand on dirt roads, which normally stay frozen during the winter, to increase traction.

The goal is to keep all roads from freezing when temperatures drop.

The road commission says keeping trash cans, recycling bins, and cars out of the road makes the work safer and easier.
