Scottville Man Falls Through the Ice - Northern Michigan's News Leader

Scottville Man Falls Through the Ice

Posted: Updated:

Around 1:00 in the afternoon, Pentwater Police were sent to investigate a report of "calls for help."

Officers found a Scottville man who had fallen through the ice on Pentwater Lake.

The man was about 300 yards from the Pentwater Township Boat Launch, where the ice was only about an inch thick.

The man was in the water for about 20 minutes until a nearby fisherman pulled him out.

Oceana EMS treated the man and he was released at the scene.

Police asked all nearby fisherman to leave the ice while the Pentwater Fire Department used their hover craft to clear the lake and make sure no one else had fallen through the ice.

They reported no other victims were found.

Officials want the public to know that weather shifts make going out on the ice very dangerous and everyone should be very careful.
