UPDATE: Ground Beef Recall

Posted: Updated:

Federal health officials say the infected beef has gotten at least 16 people sick, mostly in Michigan.

No one has died, but half of those people were hospitalized.

A majority of the sickness came after people ate a raw ground beef dish at a suburban Detroit restaurant.

Health officials want to make sure people know that they should not eat any uncooked meat.

Jouni Meats, Inc of Sterling Heights is recalling about 500 pounds of ground beef products.

The beef may be contaminated with a strain of salmonella.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service announced that various sized packages of ground beef are the products that may be possibly contaminated.

The products were distributed to a restaurant in Macomb County and sold at Jouni Meats.
