Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Cherry Capital Airport Due to False Smoke Alarm

Posted: Updated:

A smoke alarm on a flight out of Traverse City ended up grounding the flight for a short time. The Director of Cherry Capital Airport says the flight took off around 9:00 this morning, and was headed to Detroit. He says that's when a smoke detector went off. The airport says the Pilot followed FAA guidelines by turning around and making an emergency landing.

Fire crews didn't find any smoke anywhere on the plane. The flight left for Detroit again around noon once it was cleared for takeoff.
